Levy Market Festive Five: Christmas Cards

Usually, in the run up to Christmas, we’re working hard to make give everyone a great big, full-festive experience at Levy Market, with luxury food options galore, mulled booze freely flowing, stalls groaning with yuletide gifts, and a big dollop of community cheer.

But, as you’re probably sick of hearing by now, this year is a little different. We’ve spent most of 2020 making ends meet as Levenshulme Market Shop & Go, a reduced market with far fewer stalls, no food and drink being consumed onsite and no socialising taking place.

While Christmas may be hurtling towards us, this is going to remain the case. Throughout December you’ll still be able to find some wonderful street food and an array of beautiful handmade gifts, but there’ll be less of them than in previous years, and the big knees up night market we like to throw at the end of December will have to wait until 2021.

But that’s no reason to let the humbug set in. As the winter approaches we’ll be running a series of posts spotlighting some of the beautiful and unique products you can find this Christmas while supporting some of our independent traders. And you don’t even need to come to the market to get your hands on them.

To get you in the festive mood, let’s kick things off by looking at some of the tip-top cards you can send this Christmas.

1. Duggan Loves Doodles

Most of us will probably agree with the assessment 2020 = 👎. We all have friends and family who we’ve not seen for a long time, and some who we won’t get to see this Christmas. So what better way to let them know you’re still thinking of them than by sending a little Mancunian magic their way in the guise of this range of cards from Duggan Does Doodles with a handful of local haunts made festive.

2. Pippa and Paper

A range of cards for the animal lovers in your life, the ‘Reindeer in Training’ set from Pippa and Paper is available in A6 or square, and delivers on the suitably groan-inducing puns, from fa la la llama to merry Christmas to MOO.

3. Doodles of Beamish

For those looking to add some cocktail party class and colour to the Christmas cards they send out this year, you simply cannot go wrong with Doodles of Beamish. All their cards are handmade and come with a Ho Ho Ho block printed envelope and hand punched card confetti.

4. Victoria Rostock Design

There is choice aplenty to be found at Victoria Rostock Design – dinosaurs, dogs, nachos and more, all Christmasified and cute as heck. Personalised options are also available.

5. Molly Newport

You can be cute and eco-conscious this Christmas with Molly Newport. Each card is printed on recycled card, comes with a recycled kraft envelope and is wrapped in a compostable sleeve.

And remember, you can find a comprehensive list of those Levy Market traders continuing to sell their products here. You can also find regular recommendations on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts where you can keep abreast of all the latest Levy Market goings on.
