We’ve got a whole month of fun and games planned for you at Levenshulme Market this month, with loads of live music and kids activities running alongside our markets packed full of street food, art, crafts and more. Here’s what’s on in March 2019…
Saturday 2nd March
Music: The Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band – 12pm
The Manchester Irish Festival 2019 will officially launch with a performance from the award-winning Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band (who celebrated their 70th anniversary last year) from 12pm to 12.30pm. After their performance, the band will launch their exhibition ‘Attymass to Ashford Castle’ in Fred’s Ale House.
Music: The Pagans S.O.H – 1pm
The Pagans- Shepherds of Humanity (S.O.H) are a four piece hailing from the Black Country in the West Midlands, a place often revered as the birthplace of raucous noise. We can expect a good bit of that at the market at 1pm, as these guys fuse elements of hiphop, funk, punk, ska, metal, jazz and reggae to create a truly original vibe. It’s a voyage of discovery and we can’t wait!
Saturday 9th March
Music: Vocal Harum – 1pm
Levenshulme is extremely lucky to have Vocal Harum, a 5-piece a capella group performing tunes spanning the centuries. Their eclectic songbook includes Jazz, Doo Wop, Folk and the totally unexpected. What a lovely accompaniment to your Saturday shopping 🙂
Keep up with Vocal Harum over on Facebook.
Kids Fun: Build It Lego Club and Printing with John Pindar Arts – 10-4pm
We’ve got a kids corner thing happening at the market on Saturday 9th March, as both Build It! Lego Club and John Pindar Arts will be over by the tunnel with great value children’s entertainment. It’s just £1 a child per activity, and grown-ups can get their mitts on the Lego too for just £2 a person. Bring the kids and get stuck in!
Friday 15th March
Our 6th Birthday Party – Special Guest DJ Veba
It’s our 6th Birthday Party! Quite rightly, we fancied having a bit of a boogie, so we’ve invited vocal vixen and DJ Veba along to get everyone on the market dancefloor!
Veba has a rich heritage in the music scene of Manchester, having provided her incredible talents for artists including Groove Armada and Grand Central/ Rae & Christian. She’ll be playing some hand-picked beauties from her impressive record collection just for you and to celebrate our 6th birthday. See you on the dancefloor!
Saturday 23rd March
Music: Steve Ballinger – 1pm
We are lucky to have Stevie perform with us before his debut album launch this Summer. A previous member of The Travelling Band, he’s an experienced and talented singer/ songwriter. On from 1pm.
Saturday 30th March
Music: Joel Gardner – 1pm
As a special treat for our last market of the month, you’ll be soaking up the gorgeous sounds of gifted guitarist and prolific songwriter Joel Gardner! Originally from Wilmslow, Joel has performed on BBC Radio Manchester, as well as touring the UK and hitting the festival circuit, including performing at Latitude Festival and a sold-out show at Manchester’s Gullivers.
Kids: Printing with John Pindar Arts – 10-4pm
John will be bringing his colours, rollers, stencils and plenty of encouragement to the market on Saturday 30th March, to bring out the creative spirit of our younger market goers! Just £1 a child to create a mini masterpiece, the kids will love it.
