ENTERTAINMENT AT LEVY MARKET – DECEMBER 2019

Alongside our amazing stalls, we’ve a whole month of live music, entertainment, festive family fun and a *very* special art project lined up at Levenshulme Market. Here’s what’s on in December 2019…

Saturday 7th December

Music: Tom Blackwell – from 12:30pm

Described by BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris as ‘wonderful, heartfelt music’, Tom’s songs take in Americana, blues, country, gospel and all that lies between which he’ll mix up with some Christmas favourites.

Find out more about Tom here.

Kids’ Fun: The Science Buskers 10-4pm

We’ll have the Science Buskers (aka the University of Manchester Physics Outreach team) with us all day with some breathtaking physics experiments, from the biggest stuff in the universe right down to the smallest things we can look at, all right in front of you.

You can find out more about the Science Buskers here.

Family Fun: Three Minute Portraits11-3pm

Here’s something a bit special! Over all three of our December markets we’ll be hosting a series of artists who will be sketching 3 minute portraits for our customers. This week we’ve got the talented Jamie Roberts and Daniel Parker joining us. Get a bespoke sketch of yourself, your partner, your pooch – they’re perfect little Christmas presents and an absolute steal at £3 a pop.

Saturday 14th December

Music: MUMS Choir – from 12:30pm

No, not a choir made up of mums, but the Manchester University Music Society who’ll be singing a medley of Christmas carols while you eat, drink and do your Christmas shopping.

Find out more about MUMS here.

Kids Entertainment: The Madeley School of Dance1pm

We’re thrilled to welcome back our favourite bunch of talented youngsters as they throw some festive shapes for their very special Christmas dance performance.

You can find out more about the Madeley School of Dance here.

Family Fun: Three Minute Portraits – 11-3pm

Our festive portrait booth returns with a new pair of artists sketching three minute portraits for our lovely customers. This time we’ll be welcoming back Jamie Roberts along with our very own Munty Chowdhury!

Friday 20th December

Music: John Haycock – 7:30pm

For our final party of the year (and of the decade!) we’re ecstatic to be welcoming John Haycock to Levenshulme Market. John is a multi-instrumental performer who is known across Manchester for his performances on the kora, a 21 string handmade African harp which he’ll be using to give a unique twist to some well-known festive tunes.

You can find out more about John here.

Music: The SHE Choir – from 7pm

It simply would not be a Levy Christmas without a performance from the much-loved collaborative women’s choir who will be stopping by to sing a selection of carols to ensure you leave Levy Market in a firmly festive frame of mind.

You can find you more about the SHE Choir here.

Family Fun: Three Minute Portraits – 5-9pm

For the third and final time we assemble a due of artists to bash out some festive three minute drawings. Our final seasonal sketch-spree comes courtesy of Emma Reynolds, Nell Smith and Gemma Parker.
