A guide to Christmas shopping at Levy Market Pt.1

Christmas has landed at Levenshulme Market! We’re proud to have some of the most beautiful handmade Christmas presents on our stalls in December, from talented makers who put loads of love and care into every item.

Here’s our roundup of some of the festive gifts, treasures and noms you can enjoy at Levy Market this Saturday 1st December, 10-4pm!

Black Dog Pottery

You may know Black Dog Pottery best for her adorable character pots, complete with cute faces, legs and even moustaches.

But get ready, as the talented Lindy has a new range of ceramic Christmas trees! There are lots to choose from, ideal as gifts or to snazzy up your own decorations box.

Cheshire Bakehouse

No one should shop on an empty stomach. Start off by wolfing down a hot or cold Christmas lunch roll from pastry experts Cheshire Bakehouse, packed with turkey, sausage sage and onion, cranberries, parsnips, potatoes and carrots.

It’s a whole Christmas dinner squeezed into one delicious bake!

Gingham Flamingo

Sparkly cushion maker extraordinaire The Gingham Flamingo has really outdone herself this weekend, with CHRISTMAS EVERYTHING!

She’s got fuzzy Christmas tree decorations, including reindeers and robins, plus skirts, baby grows and even Christmas bow ties!

SL Photocards

A skilled photographer, SL Photocards makes Greetings cards, mounted and framed prints out of her of landscape photographs.

This Saturday, there’s a distinctly wintry and festive theme to the collection, with snowy scenes and even a cracking shot of the Manchester Christmas Markets in town. Ideal if you’re looking for a better class of Christmas card this year.

Ames Likes Toast

These little Christmassy amigurumi (the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures) made by Ames Likes Toast are so adorable we can’t actually stand it!

There’s a full cast of characters to pop on your tree or just cuddle because you’re a big softie, including Christmas puds and trees and even teeny little sprouts in Santa hats!

Purple Sharks

Now, these are fun. Purple Sharks make patches, for bags, ‘battle jackets’ and anything else you want to customise – and they’ve got Christmas patches!

You can either buy a patch to sew on yourself, or give as a gift, or you can buy pre-patched clothing and accessories if you’re not so handy with a needle and thread.

The Market Bar

This and every Saturday in December, The Market Bar will be serving hot mugs of wassail to warm you up right down to your frozen toes!

Wassail is a mulled cider drink, which has been traditionally drunk at this time of year all the way back to Medieval times – when it was part of wassailing to ensure a good apple harvest the following year!

These are just a handful of the 45+ incredible stalls lining up for our first Christmas market this Saturday 1st December, 10-4pm on the Levenshulme station car park (M19 3AP).

We’ll also have a special festive performance from the children at the Madeley School of Dance, all day FREE Christmas crafts with The Owl and the Coconut and some of the best street food in Manchester. Full details and stall list here.

Please support our social enterprise market and independent businesses this Christmas!
