BANDS!!

The Fantastic Musical Cure-all Remedy stage is BACK – and this time we’re embracing the predicted sunshine with an outdoor stage and an all day lineup of fun stuff. Here’s our musical curator Leonard Skully talking about the bumper lineup he’s put together – times and profiles/links below too:

12.00pm –  Politburo
“The band tightrope-walk a line between bucolic whimsy and a tougher willingness to forge ahead with noisey bursts, fuzz guitar and obscured sounds. At the heart of each song is a melodic sense that recalls the heady days of Kevin Ayers-era Soft Machine or mid period Gorkys. Peel back the layers and each component of every track seems expertly placed and a joy unto itself” (Rough Trade)

1.00pm – Helea Gimeno
Helea Gimeno’s music seems to reach across vast distances. It is simultaneously longing, earthy and cosmic. Her stylings recall Joan Baez, Los Jaivas, Broadcast, a hint of PJ Harvey and a heap of her own special medicine. Unmissable.

2.00pm – The Jungfraus
The Jungfraus are a hotly tipped psychedelic pop outfit from Manchester. Lead by the charismatic song writing duo of Mick Kenyon and Joe Levi. Their sound has drawn comparisons to everyone from Love, The Byrds and early Barrett-era Floyd to the Brian Jonestown Massacre and Super Furry Animals. Their songs are classic and catchy as they are melodic and intriguing.

3.00pm – Elizabeth Vince
Elizabeth Vince is a singer songwriter based in Manchester. Producing music that incorporates both acoustic and electronic instrumentation, Elizabeth released her first EP ‘Our Loving Cage’ in 2014 which is available to purchase and listen to through most major online retailers.
