It’s no secret that we ruddy LOVE Levenshulme – putting on a market here every week will do that to you – but sometimes the time comes to show your love by doing something just a littttttttttle bit different…and so we are!
We’ve been involved in the Levenshulme Food and Drink Festival since it started in 2012 and cannot speak highly enough of it – the catalogue for this year’s festival is now online here so please please take a look at what’s going on – there’s a huge range of events on offer – from fancy supper clubs to free workshops and – of course – some fantastic foodie markets. In previous years we have launched the FADfest with a street food market but this year we decided to let someone else have a go (the amazing Lingua Franca Music who are hosting a fantastic evening of African food and music – highly highly recommended – buy tickets here) and instead to try something a bit more inclusive – the first ever Levenshulme Global Picnic!
The picnic is a collaboration between us, the Friends of Cringle Park, St John Ambulance and Manchester City Council and – if we do say so ourselves – promises to be a real highlight of this year’s FADfest.
So what’s it all about? Quite simply it’s a family friendly opportunity to try FREE food prepared by groups we are funding who represent the diverse culinary traditions in our area, including Irish, British, Eastern European, Indian, Pakistani, Roma, Caribbean, African, Middle Eastern…and more!
We want everyone to get involved though – so we’re encouraging you to bring your family picnic favourites to share with your friends and neighbours, as well as trying all the culinary delights we will be laying on. And not only that – this will be a day of food and fun in the park with a truly global flavour –

St John Ambulance family fun activities including first aid demos, craft market, vintage car display and children’s sports activities
Friends of Cringle Park community village with live music and FREE free face painting for kids…
